The City of Castle Rock, nicknamed the “Gateway to Mount St. Helens,” is situated between the Cowlitz River and I-5 (exits 48 & 49) in southwest Washington state. Castle Rock is 123 miles south of Seattle and 63 miles north of Portland, Oregon.

Castle Rock's award-winning Riverfront Trail provides walking, jogging, and biking along the scenic Cowlitz River. Taking the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway (SR-504) east out of Castle Rock is the first step in a amazing adventure. Just east out of town lies the popular Silver Lake, a favorite recreational area. Those who choose to travel the entire 53 miles of the highway will be rewarded with stunning views of the majestic Mount St. Helens.
