The City of Castle Rock

     The city of Castle Rock, nicknamed the "Gateway to Mount St. Helens," is situated between the Cowlitz River and I-5 is southwest Washington state. Castle Rock is 123 miles south of Seattle and 63 miles north of Portland, OR. I-5 exit 48 serves as the southern entrance to downtown, while exit 49 provides access to northern downtown and uptown Castle Rock.
     Castle Rock provides a variety of activities for locals and visitors alike. The Downtown district provides numerous shops, restaurants, antique stores, a hardware store, and a grocery store. Uptown, you'll find service stations, lodging, a movie theater, and even more great restaurants. Come check out what Castle Rock has to offer!
      In the summer Castle Rock plays host to the Mountain Mania Festival, which focuses on the logging and outdoor history of the town. Castle Rock's new award-winning Riverfront Trail offers miles of walking, jogging, and biking opportunities along the beautiful Cowlitz River, which flows directly through the city.
     Taking the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway (SR-504) east out of Castle Rock is the first step in a amazing adventure. Just 7 miles out of town lies the popular Silver Lake, a favorite local recreational area. The 53 mile long highway will then lead you to the spectacular Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. There, you and your companions will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the famous volcano.
